Meet The Doctors

Dr. Dena Marcus

Growing up on Long Island, New York, I often worked as a dental assistant for my dad, who was a general dentist. Even though his plan for me to follow in his footsteps eventually worked, I pursued my dream of a career as a photographer first. I attended the School of Visual Arts and graduated with a B.F.A. in Photography in 1994. I specialized in documentary and portraiture. While freelancing for various magazines, I came to San Francisco on an assignment. I realized instantly that I belonged in Northern California and decided to move out to San Francisco. After working as a photographer and supplementing my income with temporary jobs, I landed a position at the University of California San Francisco Dental School. I ultimately decided it was time to return to school and become a dentist. I graduated in 2003 from the University of the Pacific Dental School (now known as Dugoni School of Dentistry).

After four years at a family practice, as well as a children’s mobile dental health clinic that services all of Monterey County, I decided I wanted to move up to wine country and pursue my own dental practice. I positioned myself in Napa for the search. For nine months I worked both in private practice and Sister Ann’s Community Dental Clinic while searching for the place to call home. As soon as I walked into the reception area of Dr. Christopher Neale’s Sonoma office and saw the huge salt water tank with clown fish and coral, I knew I had found my professional home. I also have a space to display some of my artwork, which currently features landscapes of Sonoma County. I love living and working in this close-knit community.

Dr. Claire Tyler

I am a San Francisco native and I love living and working in the beautiful Northern Bay Area. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology at UCLA, graduating summa cum laude. Prior to having children, I also taught at the Pacific Dental School for five years as a clinical instructor. Outside of the office, I am actively involved in the California Dental Association, recruiting high quality speakers to lecture at our bi-annual dental conventions. I am passionate about keeping updated on the latest dental technology through continuing education. I am committed to providing a lifetime of optimum oral health to our patients. I strive to provide quality care in a knowledgeable, gentle, and comfortable manner. When I am not practicing dentistry, I enjoy spending time outdoors. My hobbies include SCUBA diving, abalone diving, skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. I am a member of the Novato Mom’s Club and I love spending time with my husband and two daughters. I look forward to helping you achieve your dental health.

Becki, RDH

Hygienist

Living in the Sacramento area I worked as an executive assistant for a lobbyist.  After 9 years of working in the political sphere, I began looking around for a profession that would inspire me and that I would look forward to going into work each day.  That is when I found dental hygiene.

I graduated from Carrington College California for Dental Hygiene in 2010.  I moved to Santa Rosa in 2012 and love my new area.  I have been working in San Rafael and Sonoma since my move and love the sense of community that is found here.

I have become an avid runner since moving to the North Bay.  I have participated in Hit the Road Jack 10K here in Sonoma and the Santa Rosa Half Marathon two years running and the Healdsburg Half Last year.

Maureen

Registered Dental Assistant

I am a native of Napa Valley, yet as a child, spent quite a bit of time at my grandmother’s here in Sonoma. Today, I am grateful I get to work in this beautiful town.

As a teenager, I learned a lot about oral health and hygiene because my mother was a hygienist. After many years in another field, I decided to follow in the footsteps of my mother and return to college to pursue an education in the dental field. After 22 months, I graduated from the dental assistant program at Santa Rosa Junior College, with honors.

In November of 2013, I started my journey as a Registered Dental Assistant with Dr. Marcus and Dr. Tyler. I am excited to say, I feel I have found a second home here in Sonoma and have come to enjoy getting to know our patients. I continue to learn more about oral health care and its effects on our general health every moment, and I am committed to passing on my knowledge to our patients and others.
